Leaders announce co-sponsored college scholarships for caddies

NORTON, MA – The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund and the Evans Scholars Foundation are co-sponsoring full tuition and housing college scholarships to two deserving caddies from Massachusetts annually, organization leaders announced today.

These joint Ouimet Evans Scholarships will be awarded next spring based on applicants demonstrating a strong caddie record, excellent academics, financial need and outstanding character. Candidates must meet the qualifications of both the Ouimet Fund and the Evans Scholars Foundation to earn the Scholarship.

Ouimet Evans Scholars will attend select universities, including Miami University (Ohio), The Ohio State University and Penn State University. This special opportunity will be a continued expansion of scholarship offerings for both organizations as they work together to help more local caddies get to college.

“This partnership represents a fantastic opportunity for youth caddies in Massachusetts,” said Jim Blue, President of the Ouimet Fund. “We’re proud to be partnering with the Evans Scholars Foundation for this special offering. The Ouimet Fund has a storied tradition in Massachusetts, and we are excited for this new opportunity to also work with the nationally acclaimed Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship Program.”

Applications for the Ouimet Evans Scholarship will be accepted at the beginning of the student’s senior year of high school. The application period will open on Aug. 1, and preference will be given to those who complete their application by Oct. 30.

“As the Evans Scholars Program grows, our local partnership with the Francis Ouimet Fund will help us continue to create opportunities for hardworking caddies from Massachusetts,” said John Kaczkowski, President & CEO for the Evans Scholars Foundation. “The Ouimet Evans Scholarship will provide a path to a world-class college education for deserving young men and women.”
