Initiative will pair 95 Evans Scholars with mentors

CHICAGO, IL – Current Evans Scholars had an opportunity to network with Alumni and Program supporters during a kickoff event for the Evans Scholars Foundation’s 2020 Mentoring Program at Lockton Companies in downtown Chicago on Thursday.

This is the sixth year of the Mentoring Program, a voluntary initiative that pairs current Evans Scholars with mentors who have experience in their chosen field. Scholars receive career support and guidance on topics like resume preparation, networking and searching for jobs and internships. The Foundation will pair 95 Evans Scholars with mentors this year.

Thursday’s event featured an address from Evans Scholars Leadership Council Chair Alan Devey (Marq. ’11) and testimonials from mentor Kevin Scott (Marq. ’10) and and 2019 mentees Erin Cronin (Miami ’20) and Imad Longi (NU ’20).

The Mentorship Program is part of the Foundation’s overall Career Services Program, which strives to support young men and women as they advance from caddie, to college to career. The Foundation offers a full suite of career services tools, including an Evans Scholars Job Board, weekly newsletters, career nights at Evans Scholarship Houses and a webinar. These efforts will be expanded in 2020 and beyond.
