Share the stories of people in our community doing good right now

Dear Evans Scholars friends,

As we continue to cope with the uncertainty around us, we hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy. We are thinking about you during this challenging period.

Our Evans Scholars students – who have returned to their permanent homes to finish their school year – are still adjusting to a new normal in the face of changing circumstances. We are, too. It is worth noting that, to date, there are no known cases of COVID-19 among our students or staff.

In this period of change, we’re seeking new ways to stay connected with you and all of those we serve. We’ll do this through email and social media, video and webinars. Technology can’t make up for personal interaction – but we are committed to finding creative ways to stay engaged and continue building on the camaraderie within our WGAESF family.

There are so many stories of people in our community doing good right now. If you know of any, we invite you to share them with us. Continuing to highlight our positive news is critical right now. And if you don’t already, please consider following Evans Scholars on Facebook, and on Twitter and Instagram @WGAESF. Also, feel free to use #WeAreES in your social media posts.

A lot of uncertainty still lies ahead. We don’t have all the answers. And in the coming weeks and months, we may have to make some tough decisions. But we want to assure you that our priority is always your health and safety – and that soon, we’ll emerge from this crisis stronger than ever.

This certainly isn’t the first challenge our organization has faced in its 121-year history – and we know it won’t be the last. The Evans Scholars Foundation, after all, was established for caddies in 1930, as the nation struggled with the economic turmoil of the Great Depression. Through that difficult period, our scholarship program grew and continued to thrive as the nation recovered, survived World War II and prospered.

Our Western Golf and Evans Scholars communities are resilient and grateful, enthusiastic and passionate. And with everyone’s continued support, there really are no limits to what we can accomplish.

With best wishes,
